Safety and content rules

Creative freedom only works when the community feels safe. Here's how we draw the line in plain terms — what we allow, what we don't, and how it's enforced. The formal version lives in the Content Policy and Terms; this page is the readable explanation of how it actually works day to day.

Images: NSFW is never allowed

This is the firm one. Every image you upload is checked for not-safe-for-work content before it's saved. If it doesn't pass, it's rejected outright — it never gets stored, and it doesn't matter whether the character is public or private. This rule applies to every image on the site, with no exceptions.

Images also have to be actual image files (up to 4MB). That check isn't just about content — it also stops people from sneaking non-image files through the upload box.

Public text is moderated automatically

When you publish a character to the gallery, the parts everyone can see — the name, tagline, card blurb, first message, and tags — are screened automatically. Mild romance is fine. Sexual or explicit content, graphic violence, hate, and anything sexualizing minors is not.

The screening works by tagging, not deleting. If the public text reads as mature, the character still publishes, but it's marked so it only appears for signed-in adults who have opted in. So a more mature public character doesn't disappear — it simply stops showing up in the general gallery and only surfaces where it's appropriate.

The public gallery stays safe-for-work

The open, browsable gallery only ever shows safe-for-work characters. Anything tagged mature is kept out of that view. That's also why any ads on the site run only alongside the safe-for-work pages, and never near mature material.

Mature content stays private and adults-only

Any mature roleplay is limited to private, signed-in sessions, and only for accounts that have confirmed they're 18 or older and chosen to enable it. If an account isn't verified as adult, that setting stays off. Nothing of this kind ever appears in public areas or in the gallery.

The reason it's split this way is simple: a private session between you and your own character is a different thing from a public listing anyone might come across. Keeping them separate lets the public side stay something we can safely show to everyone.

What crosses the line entirely

Some things aren't a matter of tagging or privacy — they're not allowed at all, anywhere on the platform, and they're covered in full in the Content Policy. The clearest example: anything that sexualizes minors. That's a hard no in every context, public or private, image or text.

Roleplay is still bound by the rules

Private doesn't mean anything goes. The character always operates inside the platform's rules — those are enforced underneath every conversation, not left up to the character. Roleplay is meant to stay fictional and consensual, and the guardrails that keep it that way don't switch off just because a session is private.

Reporting something

Moderation is automatic, but it isn't perfect. If you come across a public character that shouldn't be there, or anything that breaks these rules, tell us through the contact page and we'll look into it.
